SYMBOLISM

According to Greek tradition, garlic is hung in homes on New Year’s Day as a good-luck charm. It is believed to ward off the evil eye, negative energy and evil spirits, bringing health, good fortune and abundance throughout the year.

Garlic decorated with a red ribbon is considered one of the oldest traditional Greek good-luck charms.
